Forest Hills Schools Named Top High Schools in Nation

Forest Hills Eastern, Northern and Central High Schools have been

named top high schools in the nation by Newsweek in a report on

public schools in America. Located east of the city of Grand Rapids,

Forest Hills Public School District is one of the top rated schools in

the state and the nation.

The high schools in the study were judged on college preparedness,

participation in college level classes, advanced placement classes,

international baccalaureate programs, and acceptance into two

and four year college programs.

Although only the high schools were rated in this article, all of

Forest Hills Public Schools strive for academic excellence for

all their students.

Fireman’s Pancake Breakfast 7:30 –9:00 AM at Firehouse #1.

9:00 am Parade Line-up at McDonald’s & Float Judging

10:00 am Kid’s Bike Parade starts; Main Parade follows

11:00 -3:00 pm Village Green Activities: Free Games & Prizes,

Arts & Crafts Show, Music, Food, Free Rides

11-3 pm Classic Car Show

12:15 pm Winning Parade Entry Announced

Dusk 10:00 pm – Fireworks in the Village

Fireworks will be on the confluence of the Thornapple and Grand Rivers,

public is welcome at the Ada Village Green for viewing.

This snow fall picture occurred on April 18th 2012. Since our March has been pretty

chilly and snowy – I am hoping April is sunny and full of spring growing.

August 2012 Youth Programs at Ada Township Parks

Ada Township Parks & Recreation Department is offering two more weeks of summer
youth programs in August. These events will be held at Ada Township Park and the
Averill Historical Museum for youth of varying ages.

Ada Township Park

August 8 10:00 – 12:00 5-7 yrs “Creepy Crawlies” program
August 9 9:30 – 12:00 8-11 yrs “Incredible Insects” program

Cost is $ 5 per child; payment due day of event

Averill Historical Museum & Barn

Aug 14 & 15 9:30 am – 2:30 pm 6-11 yrs Pioneer Days day camp

Cost for 2 days is $55; 1/2 day sessions (till noon) are $ 45

Pre-registration is required by calling the Parks office at 616-676-0520
or emailing mfitzpatrick@adatownshipmi.com for all programs.

Cascade Friends of the Library Book Sale 8:30 – 3:30 pm at Cascade

Township Library Parking Lot

July 4th all activities:

10 -11:30 am – Parade starts at Cascade Christian Reformed Church

at 6655 Cascade Road; ends at 28th St and Thornhills

11:30 am – 3:30 pm Games, Rides, Music, at the Cascade

Township Library grounds

DUSK 10:00pm Fireworks – Downtown Ada

Fireworks will be held Wednesday July 4th at dusk. Location of

the fireworks will be at 7590 East Fulton and Ada Drive in co-operation

with Ada Township.

* Reminder if you or your child will be in the bike parade and

is 14 years old or younger, they must wear a bike helmet,

as per Cascade Township Ordinance.*

Ada Township Park Offers 2012 Summer Day Camp Adventures

Ada Township Park Offers 2012 Summer Day Camp Adventures

Ada Township Parks & Recreation Department is offering

exciting summer day camp opportunities for area youth.

The Day Camp Adventures sessions are two or three days in

length and are open to youth 6-12 years old. Younger

participants may attend half day sessions.

Camp costs range from $45 for a 2-day, half-day session,

up to $70 for 3 full days.

Each week has a special theme and includes a variety

of fun activities. Most Day Camps are based at Ada Township

Park, though some are held at Roselle Park or the Ada Museum.

Day Camp session themes and dates include:

Sports Spectacular, June 19 – 21

Arts in the Park, June 26 – 28

Water Wonders, July 10 – 12

Eyes on Survival, July 24-26

Michigan Wildlife, July 31- August 2

Pioneer Days, August 14-15

Pre-registration is required for each Day Camp Session.

There are still opening in all sessions.
