Horrocks Market Kentwood Michigan – Visit Spring!

Horrocks Market is like a visit to spring time in Kentwood

by Bonnie and Terry Westbrook

Take a moment and let’s look at what they have to offer:

Fresh Flowers, Fresh Vegetables & Fruits, Meats & Dairy, Deli, Garden & Homes Supplies,

Pet Supplies, Gifts & Home Accessories, Floral for Weddings, and a Book & Candy Corner.

In the spring & summer they have outdoor  plants and trees for your garden and yard.

orth a visit any time of year, but especially in the dead of winter.

Horrock’s Market is located at 4455 Breton Road at the intersection

of 44th St and Breton in Kentwood, Michigan. The glass green house soars into

the sky and it is easy to spot just south of 44th Street.

The array of fresh flowers, fresh fruits and vegetables is impressive. They always have weekly

specials on some items of their produce. It is hard to resist bringing it all home, it looks so delicious.

Here are a few photos  that tell the story better than I could:

Horrocks Market cyclamens

Horrocks Market Vegetable Case

These exotic vegetables are always intriguing, we tried the Blue Peruvian Potatoes

on the far right – tasty but odd to see purply-blue potatoes on your plate.

We skipped the eco malanga on the left, not knowing what it is and  how to use it.

Maybe next time we are at Horrocks in Kentwood, after we do a  little veggie research.

Michigan Free Fishing Weekend June 12-13, 2010

Michigan Free Fishing Weekend  June 12- 13, 2010

As summer in Michigan approaches, Michiganders start to

gravitate toward the 11,037 inland lakes, 36,350 miles of rivers

or streams, or the 3288 miles of Great Lakes shoreline available

for recreation in Michigan [ Included are 12,000 miles

of trout waters].  In fact, there is so much water

available, that wherever you are in Michigan, you are never

more than 6 miles away from a body of water.

Grand River 6th st bridge

If you have fond memories of fishing with your Dad or grand-

parents, then why not create your own memories this weekend?

The Michigan Dept of Natural Resources has declared that you can

fish in any Michigan inland or Great Lakes waters for all species of

fish – without a license – this weekend.

Please note that all fishing regulations still apply.

And don’t forget about safety.  You are still required to follow

all watercraft laws.  So, get out the poles, grab some bait,

and get fishing!

Lowell Michigan Top Best Buy Homes – May 2010

We have a list of the TOP Best Lowell  Michigan Houses to buy,

based on price per square foot.   Price per square foot

is a great leveler.  If two similar homes are listed at similar

prices, their price per square foot should be similar.

The price should reflect the interior finish of the  home.

For example, if it has crystal chandeliers, marble tile, & a

new kitchen, this would be more per square foot than

a home that still has the 1970’s decor and/or is in derelict

condition.

Please note that this list can change daily as some homes

sell, prices are adjusted and other homes come on the market.

Check back often or just subscribe to our blog to get

up-to-date local real estate information that you want to know.
